Real Madrid will be without midfielder Marco Asensio for their Champions League opener against Apoel Nicosia.

No hair, no game.

Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio will have to sit out the team's Champions League opener against Apoel Nicosia because of an injury he suffered shaving his legs.

Coach Zinedine Zidane said a painful "pimple" has prevented Asensio from "pulling up his socks," ESPN FC reports. However, Spanish media later clarified that the youngster picked up an infection after shaving his legs.

"For that reason, and considering the weakness of the opponent, (Zidane) prefers to rest Asensio so that he can concentrate on next Sunday's important match at Anoeta (against Real Sociedad)," Spain's ABC reported Wednesday.

Asensio has yet to comment on his leg infection. However, he has shared a photo on Instagram of him watching Netflix's "Narcos" with freshly shaved legs.

BBC Sport broadcaster Gary Lineker heard about the injury and couldn't help but make a joke about the midfielder on Twitter. The former English star said they would wax their legs in his day.

Marco Asensio is out of Real Madrid's team due to an infected pimple after shaving his legs. Never would've happened in my day. We waxed.

Maybe next time Asensio will follow the wise words of "wax on, wax off," by Mr. Miyagi from "The Karate Kid."
